"Our forefathers were passionate farmers. The land was their life. They knew every inch of it, and they respected it and worked it with love. They are the inspiration for this family project. This ancestral journey led us to create a small family cellar in 2006 called Mas Blanch i Jové in La Pobla de Cérvoles (Lleida), where we produce wines that inspire in the DO Costers del Segre, a region of Les Garrigues.

50 kilometers from Barcelona is the BODEGA MIQUEL JANE winery. After 56 minutes, the train will stop at Vilafranca del Penedes station. And the winery itself is a 10-minute drive from the station. That is, the whole trip from Barcelona to BODEGA MIQUEL JANE will take a little more than an hour.

In 2003, Florence Prud’homme took over Château Saincrit, located in Saint André de Cubzac in the north of the Gironde. This 23-ha estate with clay-limestone and sandy soil is made up of various varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sémillion, all characteristic of AOC Bordeaux Supérieur. The growing methods have been carefully considered with the aim of satisfying individual tastes without being unfaithful to the terroir. Château Saincrit offers a range of wines, from fresh, young wines to rich wines, complex in the mouth.

Alessandro Martelli, owner of the vineyard Azienda Agricola Incontri, shared on the “Yellow Road” information about places in Livorno, the history of which is connected with the brilliant Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani. Amedeo was born in Livorno in 1884. What is now known in Tuscany about the artist?

In 1967, Martellino Martelli, grandfather of Alessandro, the current owner, bought a farm in the village of Fossoni in Suvereto, thereby starting the family’s agricultural activities. In 1985, Martellino’s son Renzo and his wife Marcella Busdragi began producing bottled natural wines. In 1989, Martellino bought another farm in Incontri a Suvereto, which today gives its name to the current farm. In 2000, Alessandro took over the activities of his parents, and even today he enthusiastically leads the work begun by his grandfather Martellino.

This fall we were travelling on the very heel of the Italian boot in Salento region. Cities of Fasano, Ostuni, Monopoli, Carovigno, Brindisi are all surrounded by olive groves.
